Founded in 1978 and with over 3,000 graduates the Sutherland-Chan School is seen by many as one of the best schools in North America for Massage Therapy Education. The 2,200 hour 2 year Diploma Program leads to the entry-to-practice exams where the Sutherland-Chan results have consistently been among the top tier. Our clinical outreach experience is held up as a model for other schools and our onsite Student Clinic sees 6,000 visits a year allowing our students to gain almost 300 hours of experience prior to graduation. In addition our graduates are preferentially hired by employers.
Massage Therapy is an ideal profession for anyone seeking a career in a regulated health profession and enjoys working with people or is attracted to a flexible and portable career. Some background in the heath sciences is recommended. Most do not have that background, so we offer a pre-admission Physiology course.
Massage therapy is versatile as practitioners are prepared for self-employment as well as employment in a variety of settings. While some massage therapists open their own practices, others find work in a variety of environments: in medical and chiropractic offices, hospitals multidisciplinary clinics, rehabilitation centers, spas and fitness settings, hotels and cruise lines, the world of elite athletics, and many more.
