In the Structural and Building Technology program students will gain strong knowledge in the concepts of building design, local code standards, structural design and analysis of wood-framed structures, steel and reinforced concrete building and engineered structures. Students will learn local design standards as they pertain to wood, steel and reinforced concrete structural design and analysis. This program offers a wide range of training in local building code, civil engineering bridge and pavement design methodologies; project estimating, construction inspection and management. High level computer aided design / modeling software such as AutoCAD, Revit and Civil 3D will also be used in this course.
This 35-week diploma program is fully instructor-led. The curriculum includes experiential lectures and workshops facilitated by specialized industry experts. All instructors have relevant designations and at least 5 years experience in the industry. The program includes a 4-week work experience (practicum) at a local design or engineering firm. The successful completion of all courses including a 4-week practicum is required for graduation.
