The Practical Nurse Access Program is designed to prepare graduates to meet or exceed the Standards of Practice and Competencies for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) in British Columbia and the Code of Ethics, as set out by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of British Columbia (CLPNBC).

At Discovery Community College, we view our students as responsible, self-determined individuals having the capacity to negotiate their own learning needs with the guidance and support of expert facilitators. This program builds on the prior education and experience of Health Care Assistants, helping them gain new skills, experience, and values needed for the profession. By immersing students in a real-life working environment, they are better prepared for the transition from classroom to workplace. Upon successful completion of this program, graduates will possess the knowledge, skills, behaviors, and sound clinical judgments that will enable them to practice in a professional manner.
